the body shop new brushes 2017

earlier this year the body shop launched a complimentary range of new brushes, but they only came to the stores in finland this week. the brushes are of course cruelty free (no animal hair used), the handle is fsc certified wood and the bristles contain antimicrobial coal.

1. buffing brush, 18€
to apply liquid foundation in circular motion.

2. contouring brush, 18€
slanted contouring brush perfect for defining the cheekbones. this is my favorite of the bunch as it makes contouring super easy! can be used with both liquid and powder products.

3. slanted blusher brush, 18€
angled brush designed to apply blush or highlighter.

4. point highlighter brush, 18€
i like to apply tons of highlighter, so from all the options this is my fave. the pointed shape makes it easy to apply highlighter also under the brows and nose.

5. fan brush, 13,50€
if you want to apply subtle amount of highlighter or blush, then this is your pick. in my opinion the brush is too wide and loose for precised application, but i know many swear in the name of fan brushes.

1. eyeshadow blending brush, 15€
an essential brush in everyone's kit for creating the perfect eye makeup. i love the pointed shape and how soft it is.

2. eyeshadow crease brush, 15€
i got droopy eyelids so personally i think this brush could be smaller. you want to be careful with the amount of eyeshadow you apply, that you don't end up with a patchy result.

3. flat shader brush, 15€
apply eyeshadow to the eyelid if you want intensive color payoff. the shape is great to apply some color also under the lower lashes.

4. eye liner brush, 10€
to apply liquid or gel eyeliner.

last year before christmas the body shop launched new eye colour sticks.

they come in 4 different shades and the pigment on them is very rich and long lasting - they are waterproof.

nevada gold, cyprus bronze, siberian quartz, cairo granite

a cool fact is that in the end of the pen there is a sharpener, so you can use them as a liner too if you want. price in finland is 16,50€.

the body shop matte lip liquid

about a month ago the body shop came up with matte lipsticks (read the post here). now they have finally jumped to the popular liquid lipstick trend as well. if you live in the uk, you are spoiled with 12 different shades - in finland we got only 3. apparently these are a limited edition, but i hope they make them permanent.

the formula is not as liquid and lightweight as usual liquid lipsticks are, it's more velvety and mousse-like. it takes up to half an hour to dry well, and it still transfers. this formula suits better to people who have dry lips, and it feels much more comfortable on the lips. the 3 shades that are sold in finland are very similar. pink, fuchsia and dark red with purple undertone. the darkest shade is a bit streaky, so you need to apply 2 layers.

the body shop colour crush matte lipstick

the body shop is waking up to the matte trend rather late. the formula of these lipsticks is quite comfortable matte - not too drying. they are well pigmented, but i'm not impressed of the color selection - i only like the last 2 shades. price in finland 16,50€.

the body shop fresh nude cushion foundation

cushion foundation is now very trendy and it found itself to the body shop makeup range as well. the packaging is designed for an easy application and touch-up, since it has a sponge and a mirror within. the formula has for example aloe vera and marula oil, and it's told to suit for sensitive skin too.

the formula comes in 5 different shades. to my summer tanned skin shade 03 was perfect. i would probably continue using 03 anyway, since the 02 seems very yellow.

the product is like your skin but better. if you love natural finish, you will definitely like this foundation. compared for example loreal's cushion foundation (which makes your skin look shiny and wet..) this makes a slight matte effect - but not too much not to suit dry skin as well. the formula is long lasting too, it lasted well a normal working day - i didn't need any touch up. it evened my skin tone and looked very fresh! only minus is the hardness of the sponge that comes with, i rather used my beauty blender to apply.

price in finland is 29,90€.

the body shop down to earth eye palettes

the new body shop down to earth eye palettes came out in finland last week. these palettes replace the old shimmer cubes eye shadow palettes. if you own some shimmer cubes, these shades are quite close the old ones, so you may want to skip. there comes 5 options with 4 shades (26,50€), and one bigger palette with 8 shades (39€). i would say the shadows are quite pigmented and easy to blend, good for any basic user. the shadows can be moved, so you can switch colors if you own several palettes. the palette also has a mirror.

as you can see, the big palette has 5 shades that are also in the smaller palettes, and 3 unique shades.

the body shop british rose spring trend makeup

few weeks ago the body shop launched it's spring trend makeup and renewed the lip stain collection.

british rose eye & cheek palette, 32€ and colour crush nailpolish 350 british rose, 8,80€

this special edition palette has 6 eyeshadows and two blushes. you can mix the colors for day- and night time.

the neutral shades suit for many. pigment wise they are good average. the palette is worth the price and because of its small size it's easy to carry around.

lip & cheek stain, 15,90€

the lip stain collection has gone through renovation and got 7 new shades.

037 dusty rose, 010 vineyard peach, 012 dutch tulip, 018 dark cherry, 022 pink guava, 026 bright peony, 029 deep berry.

i got to try the shade 029 deep berry.

you can get natural rosy cheeks with it, but applying to the lips is much more tricky! the color stucks to more dry parts, so you will get "the vampire effect", where your inner part of the lips are way darker. if you want just "my lips but better" i recommend you tap the product with your fingers. if you want more pigmented look, my tip is to layer the product more in the edges.

the body shop drops of youth range grows: youth essence lotion & youth cream

the body shop drops of youth skin care range gets two new products.

youth essence lotion and youth cream.

drops of youth is a complementing skin care range for signs of aging. the products use stem cells technology with criste marine, edelweiss and sea holly plant stem cells. stem cells makes the skin renew faster and the skin will look more smoother, fresher and healthier. the drops of youth range also has concenctrate, eye concentrate, sleeping mask and primer. (you can read my earlier post about the sleeping mask and primer here).

the body shop drops of youth - youth essence lotion, 160ml, 17,90€

mixture of water and gel. contains all of the three plant cells mentioned and aloe vera gel. the first moisturising step after cleansing. i recommend it to everyone who need some extra moisture, or wishes to have fresher looking skin. this is a little lighter than the oils of life intensely revitalising essence lotion, so if you have very dry skin that would be better choice.

the body shop drops of youth - youth cream, 50ml, 27,50€

contains the three plant cells mentioned and babassu oil. the cream makes pores look tighter, fine lines smoother and the skin feel bouncier. it is recommended to use the youth cream with the essence lotion and concenctrate to get best results. the cream itself is very light so i don't think it would work for someone who has very dry skin, at least in winter time.

i must mention also the new packages because they are soooo much nicer looking. here is comparison the old packaging (left) and new (right).

the drops of youth concentrate has also been updated since before it had only criste marine plant stem cells and now also edelweiss and sea holly (obs. in the new packaging).

renewed the body shop lip definers

even all the shades are not in the shops yet, i couldn't wait to write about the body shop new lip definers.

let's face it, the old lip liners were hard on texture and that's why the color payoff wasn't great. the new ones are total opposite! great pigment but lovely soft formula as well.

if pink clover or beech was your favorite, don't panic! those popular shades are included in the new liners as well. (i'm happy since pink clover is my all time favorite lip liner).

the regular range will include also shades blushing pink and beech (brown). those haven't arrived in finland yet. these new seven shades compliment the lipstick range much better than the old ones. succesful renewal!

the body shop winter trend makeup 2015

the body shop's christmas makeup collection has took inspiration to the design from great gatsby. the collection consists of two eyeshadow palette's, 6 nail polishes, 2 sparklers, glitter eyeliner and lip stain. there is also two regular lipstick shades packed in the christmas design.

eyeshadow palette swinging silver & grooving gold, 25€

the colors are actually really beautiful and usable, and they would suit for many. what bothers me though that in the gold palette the purple colors transform more to brown. in the package there is two headed eyeshadow brush included.

the metallic shades (silver and gold) are super pigmented, the other shades need a little bit more build up.

the nail polish colors are usual christmas season nailpolishes. too bad the metallic and glitter ones don't stay in the regular collection, because now there isn't any.

the burgundy shade is matte but the dark blue has a little bit of shimmer in it. they all have a great pigment, especially the metal shades (in the picture i have only one layer of metals).
